Privileged to be participating at the Zeitz Mocca exhibition “Home Where The Art Is”.
My painting “ Colour Purple “is the lady with the purple hat in the upper left hand corner.

I began my art career late in life. I studied drama when I was young and taught drama at different schools. I then started my own voice clinic called Speechwise and retired in 2018. I never had any inclination to paint when I was young, but I wanted to do something creative as I got older.

Lately I have found I enjoy telling stories in all my paintings and more often than not I like to include people in my paintings. After all we are all one with nature.

I have been painting since 2012 and did a few workshops and lessons, but only began to grow and create when I studied with a professional artist. I have found painting a wonderful medium through which I can express my feelings and passions.

Working with people as a communication skills consultant gave me an awareness of the indomitable spirit of human nature. I have used this theme in a number of my paintings and will continue to do so. On the more frivolous side of life, is my love for fashion. I also have a special love for hats! It is almost symbolic and comes from Milan Kunderas novel, (The Incredible Lightness of Being). In this novel hats were a symbol of impermanence.

My art sustains me through life’s hurdles. I am passionate about painting and I’m passionate about life! I paint only images that are hopeful and make me happy. I don’t paint realistically, but rather listen to the feelings that inspire me while I paint.

My purple princess came to support me at the exhibition to view my painting of her.
